Psychologist and
professor of child development David Elkind discovered in his
2001 study "Much Too Early" that the
capacity to manipulate symbols mentally is
developed around age 5 or 6. This makes it
possible for children to attain a level of
achievement in math or reading, for
instance, that is not possible for preschool
children. Furthermore, a report by the
Southwest Policy Institute says, "Contrary
to common belief, early institutional
schooling can harm children emotionally,
intellectually and socially." J.
Michael Smith, President HSLDA
It is obvious that
there is a problem with
the care that America's
children are receiving.
When a son or daughter
sees Ms. Jones at day
care or Elmo on TV more
than their mom or dad,
serious implications
result for the health of
the children and of the

I am now homeschooling my 4-1/2 year old.
I did hours upon hours reviewing homeschooling websites, reading
homeschooling books, the Bible and praying. Everything showed me that
homeschooling from a Christian worldview is God ordained. I have two older
daughters 21 and 20 who went to private and public schools. We lived
and breathed our faith every day. When high school junior and senior
year hit, my daughters no longer wanted to go to church, and now do not even
want to discuss God. It breaks my heart, I have learned a lot, I take
responsibility, I was never taught these things, in church or out. I
would love to help others know God's word on homeschooling, and the problem
with public schools. Thank you for the opportunity to become a Chapter
Leader. Nancy T., Pensacola, Florida

If your children have been or are in daycare or
preschool, we hope the following information will help you make the
decision to bring them home. Even though research has concluded
that daycare and preschool can be harmful to social, emotional and
brain development, a loving home based Godly education can and will
change everything. As one mom confirmed:
"Once
I started homeschooling I knew this was my purpose. I LOVE IT! I
went from being against homeschooling to being a huge advocate! I
have seen such positive changes in my kindergartener since she came
home. It took 3 months to flush out what 3 weeks of public school
had done to her!"
